The current emitted by the cathodic protection system enters the soil through the auxiliary anode, and the current flows into the protected pipeline in the soil, and finally promotes the cathode polarization on the surface of the pipeline. In the cathodic protection of the impressed current auxiliary anode, the current will enter the negative electrode of the power supply in the pipeline, thus forming a circuit. In the whole cathodic protection system, the pipeline comes from the cathodic protection environment, because the electrons from the anode will stop corrosion, therefore, it is protected, but the auxiliary anode will corrode due to the oxidation reaction due to the loss of electrons.
Cathodic protection detection, cathodic protection in the inner wall of the tank, if the need to measure the potential of cathodic protection, impressed current auxiliary anode cathodic protection can be completed by installing a reference electrode in the cathodic protection system. The reference electrode needs to be installed in the cathodic protection of the inner wall of the storage tank, and the reference electrode of pure zinc is generally used. The auxiliary anode cathodic protection is essential in the forced impressed current cathodic protection system, which can also be called anode ground bed.
The impressed current auxiliary anode is connected to the negative pole of the DC power supply. The function is to protect the metal surface of the equipment by the power supply. The process solution in the equipment constitutes a complete current loop to make the current flow to reach the protected metal surface, thereby realizing cathodic protection.
The linear distance between the auxiliary anode and the protective structure is usually 100 meters. Under the condition that the quality of the covering layer is relatively good and the protective current is very small, the distance can be appropriately reduced. In order to ensure that the anode ground bed will often be wet and occupy farmland, the anode ground bed should be selected at the riverside and ridge as far as possible. If the anode working current is too large, limit the anode ground potential gradient should not be greater than 5 V/M.
